Priority Areas
Adaptive Reuse
Adaptive reuse involves the repurposing of buildings that have outlived their original function, for example former hospitals, courthouses or schools, to serve new functions in the community.
This approach ensures that buildings are revitalised and contribute to the regeneration of a community, rather than lying vacant or being demolished. It also ensures that aspects of cultural or architectural significance to the community are preserved.
Adaptive reuse supports Ireland's move towards a low-carbon society as it is a more sustainable and cost effective approach than demolishing and rebuilding.
Building Conservation
Historic buildings contribute to the cultural and social heritage and sense of place in a community.
As a link with the past, they can attract visitors to a community and boost the local economy.
The conservation and maintenance of historic buildings requires specialist knowledge of traditional materials and construction.
We provide a specialist building surveying and project management service to help you plan and manage the repair and renovation of your historic building.
Climate Adaptation
According to the Irish Green Building Council, carbon emissions associated with the construction, buildings and infrastructure sectors account for approximately one third of Ireland’s emissions.
We can support you to capitalise on sustainability, climate mitigation and adaptation opportunities in your community; and to build resilience against the impacts of storms, flooding and other extreme weather.
Placemaking
Quality places that people care about and want to live and work in are made up of a mix of elements and characteristics: They are walkable, sustainable, safe, connected and welcoming; they offer both business and housing options; they have public, recreation and green spaces; they invest in regeneration, community heritage, conservation, arts and culture.
Our services are guided by a community-first approach and a commitment to improving the quality and vibrancy of towns and cities and the lives of the people who use them.
